Question:
Does anyone have a recommendation for a gentle upper lip hair removal
cream or wax? It seems the creams I've used leave a weird tingling
sensation for about a week. I'm trying to find something that doesn't
do that.
Answer:
-I've tried at-home hair removal for my upper lip (my problem area is
at the corners of my mouth) and never really been happy with the
results, not even taking the discomfort level of each product into
account.
The only thing that really works for me is having my lip waxed by
someone else (in my case, my hairdresser). I know she's really
experienced at it, which helps, but I think most of all it's because
it's someone else doing it, if that makes any sense.
Obviously mileages vary! If you don't find a removal method you like,
you might try having it done (if you haven't gone that route already
and decided it wasn't for you).
-I tried bleaching a couple times and a chemical remover. The upper lip is
very sensitive. It takes me all of about 2 minutes to prep, accomplish, and
clean up lip waxing, and it works well and results last. Usually I use the
simplest thing, which is a pre-waxed strip from Sally Hansen (rub them
between hands to warm up the wax) though I recently bought some from a
company I was unfamiliar with. I may need to pluck a few that don't get
caught. I do have to take a deep breath and pull the strip quickly, though,
and it does hurt, but it's only for a second. I apply the Gigi Benzocal
lotion after.
It would be worth it to have it done at a salon, either by waxing or
threading. The upper lip is the least expensive body part to get waxed. OTOH
IMHO it's also the most overpriced, considering that it takes a professional
about 30 seconds to do it.
