Question:
I just won a NADS kit (a doorprize) and _have_ been thinking about
trying waxing/sugaring this summer (have always shaved up until now).
Depil creams burn me and One can have good & bad days with razors...
Has anyone here used NADS before? I guess I want to know what I'm in
for before I get started, and what I can do to make it easier on me.
None of my friends have tried it so I have little idea what I'm in for
other than the first time can really hurt (they grow back
easier-to-pull-out on successive applications?).
Answer:
If you haven't waxed before then I guess it might hurt a bit :) All I can
say is that you get used to it and eventually *almost* don't notice it.
Probably the best time to wax is after a hot shower or bath. This is
supposed to open up your pores and make waxing a bit less painfull. You
don't need to heat Nads (as opposed to other waxes) so just spread it thinly
in the direction of hair growth and smooth on a strip which should come in
the box. Smooth the strip down a few times and then hold your skin down with
one hand so the area you're about to wax is tight and then pull off with the
other (quickly and following the contour of your leg; don't pull so that the
strip you're pulling off is at a 45 degree angle to your leg; ouch!).
Perhaps do a little patch first and see how you go. If you find it too
painfull then just wash off the wax with warm water.
The good thing I have found about waxing in general is that you tend to get
less hairs growing back after a while and yes I have always thought they
grew back finer. I'm not sure if they actually are easier to pull out after
a while or if you get used to the pain and it just doesn't seem as bad.
Ok, so bottom line: warm up skin, smooth the strip down a few times and rip
off quickly. Depending on what you're waxing you may also need to wax in
different directions, e.g. armpit hair is waxed in two different directions.
But Nads should come with some decent instructions and pictures.
