Question:
Electrolysis vs. Laser Hair Removal
Could someone explain the difference in these two procedures for me, please?
Also, is one more effective and more permanent than the other?
Answer:
-The basic difference is that electrolysis uses a needle to
deliver the electric charge to kill the root, while the laser
uses pulsed light. Electrolysis It's a slower procedure
since it's done one hair at a time versus the fast,
larger-area lasers.
I've heard reports of some women requiring multiple treatments
with electrolysis to kill the root, but electrolysis will work
with blonde or white hair where lasers can't. And lasers usually
need about three treatments too, since hair grows in three cycles.
-Electrolysis is the only method currently that can legally (in the U.S.)
claim permanent hair removal. Laser and other light-based methods can
at best claim permanent hair reduction, meaning that they may reduce the
size of the hairs permanently.
Because of the differences in how the two methods work, depending on
your needs, one method may have significant advantages over the other.
Or perhaps a combination of the two will meet your needs best. In any
case, you'll want to do some research first because both methods can get
expensive. A good place to start is the following web site:
It has a lot of info on the various hair removal methods.
