Question:
Is the laser method of hair transplant surgery effective? I have read
articles by Dr. Seager and other leading physicians as not recommending
the laser method for hair transplant surgery. Dr Seager states: "If the
laser method was effective then all doctors performing hair transplant
surgery would be using this system" Spencer also mentions in his book
about the laser method as not being effective.
What's the scoop on this?
Answer:
Yes, the Laser is a viable alternative to scalpel surgery. I restored
my hair with 2 procedures of 800 grafts each. It is undectable. I am
not saying it is superior, who knows. I am sure there are great scalpel
transplants out there. I used the laser method because there were too
many negative things said about the alternative method on the web,and
because ,intuitively, the less intrusive method made sense to me. If
you are the right age, have enough donor hair, have the bucks to spend
(about $5.00 a graft), and are satisfied that you can take Propecia
or maybe another antiandrogen regimen to keep your existing hair from
falling out in the future, then I would definetly reccommend looking
into this. That last point is important because it makes no sense to
spend that kind of money if all the hair around the transplants are
going to go in the years ahead. THIS IS A MUST,IMO. I mentioned
recently the multi-antiandrogen list that I am on. My doc likes
Propecia, but I doubt all his guys are giving him truthful feedback.
Otherwise, I must be his only patient in the world who suffers side
effects.
Some day soon I will get around to Korben's book and offer my positive
experience to his numerous and obviously biased and negative assesment
with lasers. I wonder where he gets his info? From, uh, M.D.'s that use
a scapel? That's ok, I just think the info should be truthful, which I
have found not to be the case. I researched everything and decided that
there were just too many bad scalpel transplants and dedicated bad
transplant web sites out there
not to investigate what the alternatives were. I could not find one
negative comment about Dr. Riggs, who did my hair.(Hair and Scalp Laser
Clinic on the web, in FL) I am 5 1/2 months into my second procedure.
The hair has already grown in quite nicely. I feel lucky.
Dr.Riggs is only guy who does the laser work. He has a small shop and
operates only a few days a week. They are professional, personable, and
experienced at this. All the negative stuff I researched about Lasers
proved to be B.S. Hopes this info helps you in some way.
