Hydrogen Electrolysis

Question:
Help! Can someone assist me with the design of an efficient, 12 volt hydrogen generator (from water)? Enough to power a vehicle.

Answer:
-http://www.humboldt.edu/~serc/index.shtml has an ongoing hydrogen project and I think they've got a vehicle project going too. "Goodbye" said the fox to the Little Prince. "And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can rightly see, what is essential is invisible to the eye" -how do you plan on storing the hydrogen? a solar panel (or ten) will generate enough electricity to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. you then have to comptress the hydrogen, and store it under pressure in tanks in the vehicle. carburetors can be modified to accept the hydrogen fuel. this is not an efficient process but it will work. the more power into the electroliser, the faster you can make hydrogen. do not be fooled into thinking you can make the hydrogen on board as you use it. i suggest you look into feeding the hydrogen into a fuel cell/electric vehicle. efficiency is much better than an ic engine.
