Question:
I couldn't sleep last night and all that was on the telly was an infomercial
for a hair removal product called Sweet Simplicity. The "system" comes with
an exfoliating scrub, a "brulee" (waxing/sugaring goop), and some sort of a
lotion to use afterwards.
Has anyone else seen this or tried it yet? I'm always game for something new,
but I'm a bit apprehensive about this one... The same makeup artist who stars
in the infomercial used to work on one of those shopping channels where she
used to demonstrate an at-home waxing kit all the time. I bought one of the
wax kits thinking it would be a great, easy way to avoid shaving, but I only
succeeded in bruising my legs and could never get the hang of it or understand
how she could make it look so easy when it seemed to be pretty impossible to
me!
I just wondered if anyone had tried the product yet. If anyone's interested
in it, I wrote down the number: 1-800-313-8181. It's $29.95 + $6.95 s/h, so
it wouldn't be a major blow if it didn't work (and there's also a 30-day
guarantee). I just wanted to get some "reviews" before I order it and
torture myself again! If anyone's had any success with it, please post and
let me know about it.
Answer:
-Sally Hansen has the same stuff for about $8, comes w/ desensitizing
lotion, but hafta do your own exfoliating. It's a waxing kit without the
wax, basically: apply the goop, lay on strips, rip off. Actually, I found
it easier (though stickier) than wax, and everything rinses off with plain
water. Look for it in your discount drugstore.
Re: bruising--this can happen if your skin isn't taut where strips are
applied. With one hand, pull skin firm; use the other to remove strip
quickly. -It's Natural Cold Wax Hair Remover Kit; a green strip on label says
"patented formula"--no wax in it, mostly corn syrup & preservatives in a
squeeze tube. There's $1 off coupon in there, too; can get it for less at
a discount drugstore.
