Question:
Just wonderring, are there any companies that are investigating large
scale electrolysis operations, or any that are trying to market that
sort of capital product. I have seen many advertisements and companies
that are attempting to reduce the size of electrolysis units to be
houshold appliances, but has the issue of electrolysis been thought of
as an industrial possibility, for producing large quantities of
hydrogen. Maybe Im tryuly out to lunch here, but I would really
appreciate it if anybody could give me a hand on this one, and forward
any response to me. Thank you
Answer:
You can buy them now from Electrolyser Corp. in Toronto [Etobicoke] Canada.
You can probably find them on the web. They sell electrolysis units from just
a few kW all the way up to 1 megaW I believe. They're used for filling weather
balloons, using the small sizes, and for industrial purposes with large sizes
[such as oil hydrogenation, metal reducing]. Electrolyzers are used where
electricity is cheap and there is no natural gas supply [for reforming to make
H2].
