Question:
Somebody mentioned home electrolysis kits, and I got to thinking. I've seen
these places at Ulta 3 and sometimes CVS, ranging from, oh I dont know,
maybe $40 to $100. I'm pulling these numbers directly out of my rectum, you
understand. Has anybody bought one of these things? Did it work? Did it
not work? What brands? Did it hurt? Does it involve needles or tweezers
or witchcraft or what?
Answer:
No-one has that much spare time.
I know. I spent hours removing body hair over a period of days.
It all grows back, as far as I can tell, or almost all of it.
And you end up with big ol' callouses on your thumb & first finger from
gripping the tweezers.
The tweezer kind don't hurt at all (unless you grab a bit of skin by
mistake) but the needle kind are really hard to use & you can give
yourself nasty little shocks. I used my needle kit *once* for about a
minute, before deciding it was too painful & too difficult to do
yourself. I mean, try sliding a fine needle into a single hair-follicle
at exactly the right angle on your own armpit. If you get it wrong,
you're just killing off some innocent cells at random. It stung, it made
a high-pitched whine that drove my then-SO from the room & frightened
the cats, & white stuff started to boil out of the follicle like
squeezed toothpaste. I put the machine back in the box.
The tweezer kind is better, but from my experiences, I can't prove that
*any* hair has not grown back, & frankly, there aren't enough hours in
the day. It's quicker to yank your hair out with tweezers than to use
this machine, & by the time you've gripped each individual hair (in,
say, your armpits) for up to a minute without tugging, you'll be ready
to yank them out & face the pain rather than wait any longer...
So, if you have the money to write it off if it does nothing for you,
buy the tweezer one. You never know, it might work better for you, but
if not, I'd stick to simpler measures or save up for professional hair-
killing.
